Validation processes continue to be a focus of many companies. In efforts to keep abreast of this building block, ATC Automation continues to focus on validation processes. An automation specialist should know as much about the validation process as the device manufacturer. “It should not be the objective during ‘line up’ meetings to educate the automation supplier on validation” said Ben Webster, ATC’s validation specialist. Understanding the validation processes enables ATC to incorporate appropriate measures during the design process. Controls, variable data collection, and traceability all must be designed into the system if a successful validation is expected. When correctly applied, a system is built from the beginning phases instead of adding expensive alterations later.
